The birth name of Meek Mill is Robert Rahmeek Williams. He is an American Rapper (hip-hop artist) from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He lost his father apparently shot in an attempted robbery when he was five years old. His mother Kathy Williams raised Mill and his sister Nasheema by doing odd jobs after the demise of his father. During his childhood, Mill was highly inspired by his uncle, Grandmaster Nell to pursue the career in music. Grandmaster Nell was a legend in the Philadelphia hip-hop scene in the late 1980s. Mill also used to imitate the actions of some other hip-hop artists namely Chic Raw and Vodka. In his teenage, he often took part in the rap battles. Later on, before entering the mainstream music, he formed a hip-hop artist group with three other members and called the troop Bloodhounds. Other three members were Dat Nigga Leel (Lil), Mel Love and Young Pooh. They used to buy blank CDs and burn the CDs with their songs. Mill under Bloodhoundz made four mix tapes which caught the attention of record labels. When he was 18, he was arrested for illegally possessing a firearm while walking down a corner store. He was also charged with assaulting the police and then put on probation. He released another mixtape ‘The Real Me' individually in 2006. In 2007, he began the Flamerz series and released the first mixtape under the same- Flamerz 1. Flamerz 1 featured the sensational single of Mill ‘In My Bag'. In the year 2008, he releases the second mixtape under the same title called Flamerz 2- Hottest in the City. In this tape, he gave other hit singles ‘I'm so Fly', ‘Proli/Prolli' and also ‘Hottest in the City'. This release grabbed the interest of Charlie Mack, the President and founder of 215 Aphillyated Records. Mack signed Mill to the management company of 215 Aphyillyated Records. In the same time, Mill met the owner and founder of Grand Hustle (also called Hustle Gang Music) Records T.I. T.I. was the rapper who got so impressed with the lyrical ability of Mill that he proposed him to travel along with him to LA (Los Angeles). In Los Angeles, Mill also met with the Warner Bros. Records.

He was offered a deal to collaborate with both the Record companies, but he chose to collaborate with T.I. He thought it was a lucky opportunity, and just when things were getting better for him, a huge hindrance came up. He got arrested, charged with possession of gun and drug and was ordered to serve a term of seven months in prison. He got released in early 2009. Once he was released, he continued his mix tapes and teamed up with DJ Drama. He was unable to release any album under Grand Hustle and parted ways with them in 2010. In 2011, Mill released ‘Tupac Back', his single starring Rick Ross from his album- Self MadeVol.1. During the same time, came his second single - ‘Ima Boss' again featuring Rick Ross. This song was later remixed starring T.I., Birdman (Bryan Williams), Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled(Khaled Mohamed), Swizz Beatz (Kasseem Dean) and Rick Ross and the remixed version of the song registered on the Billboard Hot 100 and rose to number 51. The song became very successful. In 2011, he released Dreamchasers which featured his well-received hit ‘House Party'. He was included in "Freshman Class Feature for 2011" in XXL magazine. Meek Mill said in an interview that Rick Ross changed his life. The Maybach Music (MMG) Group founder also changed his whole family's lives as well. He said that his grandmother thinks that Rick Ross is her boyfriend. His debut studio album Dreams and Nightmares reached at number 2 on the U.S Billboard 200 in 2012. It was named the 15th best hip-hop album by Spin Magazine of this year. In February of the year 2012, Meek Mill was listed as the number #7 hottest MC in MTV’s annual list of "Hottest MCs (Master of Ceremonies) in the Game". In the meantime, the second installment of the Dreamchasers series was released. The album was downloaded 105 million times within six weeks of the release. In the year 2012, he also announced the launch of Dream Chasers Records, his record label imprint. His third installment of the Dreamchasers series was released in the year 2013. In 2014, he was arrested again for serving a sentence of five months for violating his five-year probation by performing out of the state without prior permission. He recalled that time as hell and said he came closest to losing his mind. In June 2015, he released another album ‘Dreams Worth More Than Money', through MM Group of Rick Ross, which topped the Billboard 200 as on July 18, 2015. He also produced "The Tony Story" in the year 2015.
