Alastair Fothergill, real name Alastair David William Fothergill, is a British Producer. He mainly makes nature documentaries for television and cinema. Born on April 10, 1960, Alastair has studied at Orley Farm School, Harrow School. He has graduated from Durham University, taking up Zoology at Cuthbert’s Society, Durham. In 1983, Fothergill joined the BBC Natural History Unit and worked on The Really Wild Show, Wildlife on One, and The Trials of Life. Later he became an independent producer and produced several series like The Blue Planet in 2001, Planet Earth in 2006, and was co-director of the associated feature film Deep Blue and Earth.
