He grew up in Miami. He now lives in Los Angeles. He is married to “Lienna Silver” who is a novelist. He has a daughter (Sasha Silver) and a son (Max Silver) who is TV executive at Chernin Entertainment and movie director respectively. He did his graduation from Brandeis University, Massachusetts. He took a degree in Theatre. He started his career in New York City as an assistant for Otto Preminger, renowned producer-director. He went to his office which was at 711 Fifth Avenue.

He produced the pilot and initial two seasons of ABC’s hit TV shows called “The Wonder Years.” He received the Emmy Award under the category “Best Comedy TV series.” In 1999, he co-founded a Non-Profit Organization (NGO) called Film Aid to bring movies to Refugee camps all around the world.
