She has majored in telecommunications and films from the “San Diego State University”, and further during her final year, she took a job at a local San Diego television station, where her job dictated her to do several tasks like being a camera operator, video editor, floor director, and news production coordinator. She also produced a talk show further down the line, “You’re On”, for the very same station for a period of four years before transferring to Los Angeles.

Steven Spielberg discovered Kennedy during the production of “1941” in the year 1979, and consequently hired her as his secretary. Even though she was terrible at her job, she was on it only because of her awesome production trains of thought. Later, she got the credit as a producer with Steven Spielberg in the movie, “E.T. the Extra-terrestrial”. With the “Indiana Jones” franchise, she became one of the high-end producers in Hollywood. Till the year 1992, she was the president of Amblin Entertainment, mostly because she overtook most of the ongoing arrangement. Later, she established a company with Frank Marshall named, “The Kennedy/ Marshall Company” with a contract at “Dreamworks”. Meanwhile, she also worked on some of the greatest movies ever with Steven Spielberg, such as, “Jurassic Park” and “Schindler’s List”. It is not surprising that she received an award for her contribution to the society as a woman for their empowerment within the entertainment industry (Women in Film Crystal Award in 1995). In the year 2005, she produced another two of Spielberg’s movies, “Munich” and “War of the Worlds”. The movie, “Munich” earned her an Academy Award nomination.

Then in the year 2012, she exited from the Kennedy/Marshall alliance and left Frank Marshall to take care of the production house all by himself. She was chosen the co-chairperson of “Lucasfilm Ltd.”, and further after its selling to Walt Disney Company, she was successfully appointed the president. Presently, she is one of the board members of the “Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences”.
