Paula Abdul was born on June 19th 1962 in California’s San Fernando, USA. She is a singer, dancer, choreographer, actress and songwriter. She is 5 feet tall. She belongs to a Jewish family. She is the daughter of Harry Abdul and Lorraine M. Rykiss, who is a concert pianist by profession. Paula’s younger sister’s name is Wendy Abdul.

The couple tied the knot in 1992 and after two years of marriage got divorced. Her second husband was Brad Beckerman (designer), with whom she got married in 1996 and later divorced him in 1998. She has a dual citizenship of Canada and United States of America. She is an alumnus of Van Nuys High School, Los Angeles. She graduated from Van Nuys in 1980. She was an honour student and a cheerleader during her school days.

The actress is a trained dancer in Tap, Jazz, and Ballet. She did her graduation in Broadcasting from the University Of California State, Northridge. She was a Laker Girl, a member of the cheerleading group for the Angeles Lakers team at the NBA. She was selected out of seven hundred candidates and later became the head choreographer of the Angeles Lakers. Paula has always talked about Gene Kelly as her inspiration. She started her career in singing from 1987 onwards.

Forever your Girl was Paula’s debut album, which was released in 1988. The album was a Virgin Records production and contained six of Paula’s solo songs. The album was a massive hit and grabbed the 1st position on the Billboard 200, Canadian Albums Chart, and Australian Albums Chart. Her second album was, Shut Up and Dance: Mixes in 1990. It was a remix album and contained eight songs. The album was successful and got the 7th position on the Billboard 200. Her song, Opposites Attract was a major hit and won a Grammy Award in the category of the Best Music Video. It also won two Primetime Emmy Awards in the category of the Most Outstanding Choreography. Other than being a very successful singer, she was also a judge on two famous American reality TV shows, Live to Dance and The X Factor in 2011.

In 2013, she also had guest-judged the So You Think You Can Dance’s 10th season and season 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2014. Paula is an animal lover. She became a part of the National Guide Dog Month in 2009.
