At present, he is functioning as a sports analyst on the television show“Inside the NBA”. He is one of the paramount players in the history of the NBA (National Basketball Association). He has played for 6 teams in his 19-year long career. O'Neal's honors include the MVP award in the years 1999 and 2000, the NBA Rookie of the Year award in the years 1992 and 1993, 3 Finals MVP awards, 2 scoring titles, 14 times All-NBA team selections, 15 times All-Star game selections, three times All-Star Game MVP awards, and three times NBA All-Defensive Team selections.

O'Neal is one of the 3 players to win NBA MVP, Finals MVP, and All-Star game MVP awards in the year 2000. O'Neal has released four rap albums in addition to his basketball career. He has starred in many films. In 1993, O'Neal started to compose rap music. He has released one compilation album and five studio albums. He has featured with Michael Jackson as a guest rapper in a song "2 Bad", from Michael Jackson's album History (1995). Starting with Blue Chips and Kazaam, O'Neal began starring in movies. He is one of the first Afro-Americans to play a chief comic book superhero in a motion picture.

O'Neal portrayed as himself on one episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. He has appeared in two episodes of My Wife as well as Kids and The Parkers. He has played cameo roles in the films, Jack and Jill, Freddy Got Fingered, and Scary Movie 4. O'Neal has appeared in the music videos "You Wouldn't Believe" (2001), in "Bad Boys 4 Life", in "That's How I Beat Shaq," and in the Owl City's "Vanilla Twilight" video. O'Neal has also worked in the movie CB4. O'Neal has made his appearance in a SportsCenter commercial. He tried for a part in the film X2, the second film in the X-Men film series, but was overlooked by the filmmakers.

O'Neal has also played the role of Officer Fluzoo in the comedy follow-up of Grown Ups 2.
