Nicole Maines was born October 7, 1997, an American activist and transgender rights activist.  Before becoming an actress, she was an anonymous plaintiff in the case of Maine Supreme Judicial Court Doe v. Regional School Unit 26, where she said his school district did not prevent him from entering the women's restroom because she was flexible. The court ruled in 2014 that barring transgender students from leaving the school bathroom based on their sexual orientation was illegal, the first such decision by a state court.

As an actress, Maines played Nia Nal in the series CW superhero Supergirl (2018 - existing) from the fourth season. She is the first to portray a transgender superhero on television

Maines and his family were fined $ 75,000 following a 2015 lawsuit, with Maines and his family entitled Becoming Nicole: The Transformation of an American Family, a book written by Washington Post writer Amy Ellis Nutt. It tells the story of a family that allowed the Maines to become transgender.
