Daniel Quinn is a veteran American novelist. He is a prevalent a cultural critic and the former publisher of educational texts.Ishmael is one of his best works. It also got him the Turner Tomorrow Fellowship Award in the year of 1991. Following which his book’s publishing was completed in 1992. Daniel’s ideas are often attributed to his environmentalist approach. However, he forbids the use of this term in his description. He prefers to identify his philosophy with a different phrase – new tribalism. Quinn was born in Omaha district of Nebraska, where he completed his schooling in Creighton Preparatory School. He completed his graduation (Bachelor’s) in Austria’s Saint Louis University, University of Vienna and Loyola University. He received his degree in English in 1957.

He took a hiatus from his studies to be a postulant and eventually become a Trappist Monk. Daniel then abandoned his Catholic faith and started publishing. In 1975, he ended his publishing career to pursue writing as a freelancer. His most well-known book Ishmael was the first book in a loose trilogy. The Story of B became the second book and My Ishmael the third. Following the trilogy, all his work brought him fame and success.

His golden era, however, was undoubtedly the 1990s. The influence of environment-centric content with a touch of anarchy and simplicity became his strong suit and style of writing. He openly denies identification with any of these traits and states that his work is articulated by the widespread cosmogony of the radical environmental in various cultures. Although readers responded positively to Ishmael, a lot of controversies were induced with Quinn’s comments and conclusions in The Story of B.

He claimed the growth of human population is directly proportional to the availability of food. To elaborate his ideas in these books, Quinn collaborated with Alan D Thornhill in 1998. He produced almost a three-hour long video called Food Production and Population Growth. He faced a long bankruptcy brawl with his formerly scheduled publisher. After he had over come the scuffle, his book Tales of Adam was released in 2005.

In this book, Daniel pics the topic of animism again after The Story of B and shows the world in seven tales through the eyes of an animist. He also wrote an autobiography called Providence. Quinn underwent two failed marriages and currently lives with his third wife Rennie in Houston town of Texas.
