Susan Borowitz is an American producer and writer. Her works like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Family Ties made her a well-known personality in America. Susan Borowitz was born on 6th March 1959. Her birth name is Susan Stevenson. She was born in Lower Merion, Pennsylvania. Her father is Robert Large Stevenson and her mother is Norma Wills. They both were artists which gave Susan her inspiration to become an artist herself.

During her childhood, she used to perform different art projects that turned into a written form and ultimately into story-telling. During school, she not only wrote stories but also did drawing to relieve her stress. During her early years in Hollywood, Susan also did the work of visual arts and also she restyled her wardrobe herself into formal wear to catch up with her writer/producer personality by sewing clothes herself.

Susan did her graduation from Harvard University. She became more passionate about her writing and ultimately decided to become a writer. She was fond of humor writing. She wrote an article for Harvard Lampoon and became its editor. One of her articles got published called, ‘The Best of the Harvard Lampoon’ Writing for the magazine inspired Susan to pursue comedic writing further. They had a daughter and a son. To raise their children, the family gradually moved to New York City. It became difficult to maintain her job which was 3000 miles away and also raise her children. Hence, she decided to take a break from work and spend the whole time raising her children. During that time too, she didn’t stop writing.

Susan wrote a book on her Daughter’s Adolescence, “When we’re in Public, Pretend you Don’t Know Me.” She captured the adulthood of her daughter and the book served as a guide for all the mothers living in suburbs and how to deal with the struggles. Later, she got divorced from Andy Borowitz.

Susan worked on 1982’s big hit sitcom called Family Ties. The sitcom ran for four consecutive years. She learned different behind the scenes activities like editing and directing. She became the producer of the show from the writer of the show. She gives credit of learning everything to Gary David Goldberg who happens to be the creator of Family Ties and Susan’s mentor.
