Gaurav Juyal

Gaurav Juyal is a freelance illustrator, artist, animator, and educator. His father is a retired scientist and his mother has always been into social work. She teaches the inmates of a jail near their house. Gaurav has always been a stubborn kid and refused to study during his childhood. He always had difficulty in understanding text. The animation was one thing that fascinated him from his childhood. It was in 8th Grade that he was finally sure about it being his career option.

Gaurav also aspired to be in Army in his childhood but that dream faded with time. After his schooling got over, he studied a 3 – D Animation course from Bombay. Being motivated by his sister, Gaurav applied for NID but was rejected twice. It was lt in the third take that he was selected. He owes all his knowledge to that place. He thanks Walt Disney for introducing him to the children. He connected to the children on different levels and started living his childhood with them. Meanwhile, he conducted art workshops throughout India. He shot 70+ episodes of the show Art Attack with Walt Disney. After that, he founded ‘ Thoughts and Bolts’ alongside his two friends. He says it was difficult for him to be an entrepreneur when all his life, he has been into art and animation and was all on his own. He has made several illustrations on various occasions.

He made the illustration of a ‘Friendship Tree’ on the occasion of the Elysee Treaty between France and Greece which was organized at the Max Mueller Bhawan. He collaborates with various organizations to spread his work. He collaborated with Junk Vigyan, alongside Alaya Studios for the World Economic Forum wherein he made Life-Size Dustbins with the help of kids of ‘ Sapera Basti’ – A rag picker community of Dehradun. He has also tried his hand at Graffiti and Food Art.
