Mukherjee is an avid traveler, a biker, a skilled musician, and a talented photographer. Mukherjee started his career as a trainee chef at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai. It was at the Zodiac Grill where Mukherjee mastered the principles of fine dining cooking. In 2002, Mukherjee became the Chef de Cuisine followed by his promotion to Executive Chef and finally Corporate Executive Chef of deGustibus Hospitality. Mukherjee spent 16 years with deGustibus Hospitality, during which he played a significant role in opening every new restaurant owned and operated by the company. Indigo Delicatessens is one such example. Jaydeep started and headed social outreach programs with the Salaam Baalak Trust, an Indian non-profit organization and, SPJ Sadhana School.
The Salaam Baalak Trust provides support for street children. SPJ Sadhana School is an academic institute and resource center for training people with autism and special needs. He has mentored many young chefs from these organizations, many of whom are professional chefs today. In 2018, Chef Mukherjee joined Impresario Handmade Restaurants as Brand Head for Smoke House Deli. He even started Goodness to Go by Smoke House Deli. Chef Mukherjee prefers using simple flavors with remarkable cooking techniques for creating dishes. He believes in using local seasonal foodstuffs to create sumptuous dishes. He wanted to be writer, a photographer, a wildlife conservator, an aviator and a designer during his adolescent years. He has close to three decades of experience in the Food industry.
