She was just 17 years old when she performed the role of Apeksha. In the movie, Ria is the daughter of a single mother who always remains the unmotivated student and managed to reach matriculation despite her lack of interest in studies.

Ria played the role so convincingly that even in the remake Tamil version the heroine Yuvasri could not narrate her part that well. The actress is based in Lucknow and she is studying in plus two and her father is a PWD supervisor. Her father is proud to recall many times that Ria has fulfilled her dream of acting as she has all the qualities of being an actor.

Ria loves seeing TV serials a lot and before getting her lead role in 'Nil Battey Sannata', she was associated with few TV shows and serials. She has performed in reality shows like ‘Dance India Dance’ and even 'Hindustan Ke Hunarbaaz' which was a talent show for children. Her father is Sushil Kumar Shukla. The actress is really spontaneous in acting and people liked her very much in the role of Appu. Her giggle, dialogue delivery, playful capabilities matched with all kinds of emotions that she echoed on the screen.

It is true indeed that it was very nice to watch such a fine performance from a grown up child actor after a long time. Director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari had stated that the film was kind of a reality which she has seen in almost every village in our country.
