Hiren was a well-known director who worked in many famous films. He was born on 26 September 1903 in Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, British India. He also received training in Rabindra Sanger and Classical Music. He also earned the titles of ‘Vidya Bhushan’ and ‘Sangeet Ratna.’ He also acted and directed in various films such as “Rishir Prem,” “Chup,” “Udayer Pathey,” “Sesh Raksha,” “Mahua,” “Dharma Ki Devi,” “Piya Ki Jogan,” “Mahageet,” “Bhakta Jayadeva,” “Africa Mein Hind,” “Amar Geeti,” “Kavi Joydev,” “Dasi,” “Banjarey,” “Sree Tulsidas,” “Ghungroo,” “Rami Dhoban,” “Ramman,” and “Ektara.” He also worked as a music director at HMV and wrote the screenplay and story of various films. After his retirement, he continued to write non-Bengali film music sung by Hemant Kumar and Kanan Bala.
