Pamela Rooks is an Indian film director, producer, writer, and screenwriter who has made only a few but very significant films that dealt with our society, and problems. Her movies had been widely screened at many film festivals, and have won rave reviews for its powerful screenplay. She was born in Kolkata in an Army household but did her schooling in a boarding school at Nainital and Shimla. She was born to Col. A. N. Juneja and Gudi Juneja.

Even in her school days, she was interested in dramatics. Later on, when she did mass communication from Delhi in the 1970s, she got closely associated with a theatre group. This film had cinematography by Sven Nykvist. After she met Rooks in a DD program while taking an interview, it bred into a fairy tale that helped them to tie the knot. Later on, she made her career as a documentary filmmaker. After making for the viewers a series of documentary movies that dealt with public and social issues, she made her first feature film “Miss Beatty's Children" (1992). The film 'Train to Pakistan’ was produced by Channel Four Films and National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), and production company was Kaleidoscope Entertainment. In 2003, she made an English film 'Dance Like a Man' for which she was the director, and the movie won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in English.

It is sad that the in November 2005, she met with an accident when her Toyota car dashed with a Maruti Car as she was returning home from Indira Gandhi International Airport. Due to the accident, she had a brain injury, and this led her into a coma for four years. Later, she died of a cardiac arrest on 1 October 2010 at the age of 52. She married the American Director Conrad Rooks and had a son, Ryan. They divorced in 1985. Later, it was stated that she had an affair with Prince Richard Holkar , son of HH Maharaja Yeshwant Rao II Holkar of Indore.
