Samir Karnik

Samir Karnik is an Indian film producer, director, and screenwriter of Hindi movies. Karnik made his directorial debut with the movie Kyun! Ho Gaya Na... in the year 2004. The movie was a love story based on Diya played by Aishwarya Rai and Arjun played by Vivek Oberoi. Diya is a bright college student who does not accept with arranged wedding. The story starts when Diya moves to Mumbai to take exams. While there, she waits with her father's companion and meets their happy son, Arjun. His opinions on love are totally opposite hers.

But they start spending time with each other and shortly fall in love. Arjun though is ignorant that he is in love, while Diya confesses her love. Misinterpretations occur till Arjun essays off to the orphanage, in goals of establishing a smile on her face. And the story goes on with if the two meet. In 2008, he came up with the multi-starer film Heroes. The movie starred Salman Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, Sohail Khan, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vatsal Sheth, Preity Zinta, and Dino Morea. The movie is penned by Aseem Arora.

The movie had to go through a lot of delays and was finally released in 2008. The script was requested to be part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 2011 he directed and produced the comedy-drama Yamla Pagla Deewana. The movie featured Dharmendra, Bobby Deol, and Sunny Deol, in the main roles. The film records the second pair-up within the Deol family, after their last hit, Apne in 2007. The film's name is encouraged from the hit song Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana from the 1975 movie, Pratigya also featuring Dharmendra.
