Sunil Batta

Sunil Batta is an Indian director, scriptwriter, cameraman, and producer. He was born in Lucknow in the state of Uttar Pradesh. He is recognized for his work in the film Amma (2013). Sunil has made several documentaries, advertisements, and series in the unconventional genres of literature, culture, religion, and history. Many of his documentaries and short films aired on Doordarshan. He has done work and shown proficiency in multiple languages including Kashmiri, Urdu, English, Awadhi, Hindi, and Bhojpuri. The movie Amma released in 2003 was directed and produced by Sunil. It was a bilingual Hindi -Awadhi film that was released around the globe. It was screened at the National Film Festival 2003. His most famous TV series is Guldasta (2009).

He has been awarded the Ratna Samman in 2007 for filmmaking, Shan-e-Awadh in 2007 by Super Media, Munal Samman (2006 & 1996) by Munal Communications, and Samman Patra by Film & TV Academy, Uttar Pradesh in 2002. The films directed by him include Sandesh (AIDS awareness) in 1995 on Doordarshan National Network, Chamatkar adaptation of the short story by Munshi Prem Chand [aired in 1995 on Doordarshan], Pashu Se Manushya based on the short story by Munshi Prem Chand aired on Doordarshan, Bhopal (1995), and Mukti Marg based on the short story of Munshi Prem Chand, Doordarshan on his birth Anniversary in (1995).

The TV serials include Prem Sarovar (1994), Teen Varsh (1995) based on the novel written by Padam Bhushan Bhagwati Charan Verma, Shagufta (2001), Ummed Hindas Chaparastal (2002), Jeevan Ek Rang Anek (2003), Dad Wans Bamun (2003), Jeevan Ke Rang Story Coming Soon.... >> Read More... (2006) and Shab Gazeeda based on the novel by Aneeza Sayed (2014). Almost all these serials aired on Doordarshan. Documentaries made by him are Face in the Crowd (1990), Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon (in 1997 on the 50th Anniversary of the Independence of India), Buddha (2004) aired on Doordarshan Leh, Shaan-e-Awadh (2008) – a series depicting the art & culture of Awadh and Shoray-e-Awadh (2008) based on the life and works of renowned Urdu Poets.
