Hence, one must sincerely appreciate the role of an editor who manages to spend more time of checking footage, sift them and decide which scene to cut from the final movie. It is a tedious task and none can learn it even after a few years.

Today, editing work is done with digital footage and computers. Even then an editor will usually sit down with the long footage of scenes and give instructions that are necessary to put the film into its final form.
