She became popular while working as a News Presenter at DD Metro, which is renamed DD News. In DD Metro, she presented the program, Aankhon Dekhi. Nalini worked in this program for nearly 12 years. She presented this program related to investigative journalism from 1990 to 2002.

In 1995, she hosted the show Hello Zindagi Hello Zindagi is a Hindi TV serial that aired on D >> Read More... , a documentary show on Doordarshan. Besides presenting the show, she produced it too. Nalini is married to SPN Singh, son of former UP Governor cum first Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Chandeshwar Prasad Narayan Singh. Nalini has a daughter, Ratna Vira, an author and a son, Sukaran Singh, Vice president of Tata Advanced Systems. Ratna Vira has penned a novel, Daughter By Court Order. This book has created a stir that if it was an autobiography.
