Rajdeep Sardesai is a famous face in the Indian media. Presently, he is a consulting editor at the India Today group and is said to be doing a show on Headlines Today soon. Formerly, he was the Editor-in-Chief of IBN network and is famous for his shows on the well-known news channel CNN-IBN.

He left the IBN network in July 2014. Rajdeep Sardesai completed his schooling in Mumbai and went on to major in Economics from the reputed St. Xavier’s College. He then went to University College, Oxford where he further qualified himself in the field of Civil Law. He is married to fellow journalist and author, Sagarika Ghose.

Unlike many cricketers, Rajdeep Sardesai despite being the son of former Indian cricketer Dilip Sardesai did not choose to follow the footsteps of his father. Instead, he decided to carve a niche for himself in the media industry as a famed political commentator well known for his quality programs on news channels. However, we cannot completely erase cricket from his life as he was a first class cricket player representing the Oxford University.

After working six years as the Mumbai city editor with the Times of India, Rajdeep forayed into television journalism with the NDTV. ‘ The Big Fight’ is a very popular show he hosted on NDTV. Later on, Rajdeep quit NDTV to start his news company, Global News Network in collaboration with CNN and TV 18. Post this came his famed presence as the Editor-in-chief of CNN-IBN. His illustrious media career focussed on political issues of national interest.

He is one of the few celebrated journalists whose views on Indian politics has been appreciated since time immemorial. He has also been awarded the prestigious Padma Shri Award for Journalism, The International Broadcasters Award and also the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award. He has also authored a few books on national politics and the 2014 elections.
