Udayan Mukherjee is an Indian television journalist and economist. He was the former managing editor at CNBC India. His education includes B.Sc in Economics from Presidency College, Kolkata, West Bengal. And for his post-grad, he has a Master’s degree in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He started his career with UTV. Later he went on to work at CNBC as the managing editor, anchor, etc.
He stepped down around 2013, after working as a journalist for almost two decades, to take a break from his professional fatigue. Mukherjee has received the Ramnath Goenka Awards, Journalist of the Year in the broadcasting category, in the year 2012. After quitting his job at the news station, Mukherjee moved to the western Himalayas and wrote his debut fictional novel ' Dark Circles Click to look into! >> Read More... ' in 2018. The book talks about the topic of depression and the discussion surrounding the awareness of mental health.
He compares mental health issues to cancer of our generation. And he believes that it is still not talked about enough. He moved to Sitla, Uttarakhand, to better connect to himself and, in turn, was able to create his book (Dark Circles). He is a journalist turned entrepreneur and runs two glamping ventures in Uttarakhand and Ladakh.
