But did you know he was an excellent fitness trainer as well? Gavin Packard was of Indo-Irish origin. He was born on 8th of June 1964, in Mumbai. Amongst five children, he was the eldest, to Earl and Barbara Packard. Earl Packard was a computer expert, and his mother was a Konkani Maharashtrian. Gavin’s grandfather, John Packard, was an Irish man, who came to the country as a part of the US Army. He later came and settled in India.

Gavin is a national award winning fitness expert and a bodybuilder. He has also won many state awards. He entered the big screen through Malayalam movies. He debuted in the Malayalam movie “ Aryan Click to look into! >> Read More... ” in 1988. He got an opportunity to share the screen space with the already famous Mohanlal. It is reported that he was the chosen one by the director, for the role he portrayed. Gavin played the role of a local goon, named Martin.

The movie was directed by Priyadarshan. The role was a small one, as it was a cameo, but it was noteworthy as the journey for Martin from a shy hero to a local goon was portrayed perfectly by Gavin. In 1989, he had his Bollywood Debut with the movie “Ilaaka”. During the very same year, he got the opportunity to work for a full-length character of Fabien a P. Padmarajan directed “Season” that was much appreciated for his performance. In total, he did more than 30 Hindi films and a dozen of English films that were homegrown productions. He also worked in a couple of Malayalam movies, which were super hit movies, in a career that spanned for 15 years. His brother, in an interview, after the actor’s death, recalls some of his brother’s best moments, as a brother as well as an actor. He says, unlike the picture of a bad man, he was scared of heights. Apart from being a good and caring brother, the actor genuinely cared for those who were close to his heart. Gavin’s last days were spent with his brother in their native town Kalyan.
