Born to the late actress ‘ Nutan’, Mohnish Behl is known for his disarmingly good looks, exotic charm and brilliant acting. He studied at St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai.
He was personally recommended by Salman Khan for the movie, Maine Pyaar Kiya, in 1989. He made his place in the industry by doing a string of supporting roles throughout the late 90’s, which he performed under 'Rajshree Banners'.
'Force’, ‘Khap’, and ‘Desi Boyz’ are probably his best known films. He is the cousin of Kajol Devgan and Tanisha Mukherjee, and the grandson of late actress, Shobhna Samarth. He is married to actress, Aarti Behl, and the couple have two daughters, Pranutan (born 1993) and Krishaa (born 2009).
He has also anchored two shows, Bach Ke Rehna Zara Sambhalke, a popular game show, and Star Vivah. He has been awarded two Filmfare awards- the first for Hum Aapke Hai Kaun (1995) and the second for Hum Saath Saath Hai (2000). He became everyone’s favourite with the role of Dr. Shashank Gupta in the very famous series, ‘Sanjivani - A Medical Boon’, where he plays the role of a very sincere, hard working, charismatic, and empathetic doctor, who stands firmly for all that he believes in, and supports his team and colleagues.
On the big screen he was most recently seen in Krrish 3, and Jai Ho. Mohnish Behl is quite a romantic, and is always seen with his wife in outside appearances. She admits that he even sings cheesy romantic songs for her, which always make her smile. He loves character roles as they have allowed him to cross the bounds and the image that a hero or a lead actor has to portray.

Due to popularity in the small screen, he got a lead male role in the television drama, “ Devi”. In the silver screen, he played lots of negative roles, but it was his first negative appearance in small screen as Vikram. He was appreciated a lot for the character of Shasank Gupta in Sanjivani. So, he again got a chance to play the same character in a different television drama called “Dil Mil Gaye”.
