Rahul Roy is a well-known Indian model-turned-actor and producer in television and Bollywood film industry. He was born on February 9, 1968, in Kolkata, West Bengal in India to Indira Roy and Deepak. He studied at Lawrence School in Sanawar. Rahul is related to Cory Walia, a popular personality in the fashion world. He got married to fashion model, Rajalaxmi Khanvilkar, in the year 2000 and they had a divorce in 2014. Before his marriage, he was known for his Casanova image. That’s when he saw Rahul’s pictures and asked if he’s interested in working in Hindi films. His mother asked him to meet the director at his home in Juhu. When they met, Bhatt narrated a line about the film, Aashiqui, and Rahul agreed to do it. Aashiqui, a Bollywood musical romance film, happened to him in the year 1990, and it became an all-time blockbuster of the year.

After the success of this film, Rahul signed some films, but most of those movies failed at the box-office, or it got shelved. He worked in many films including Majhdhaar, Pyar Ka Saaya, Jaanam and Dilwale Kabhi Na Hare. He was noted for his performance in the Hindi horror film, Junoon, in 1992. In the late 90s, he started playing supporting roles. Rahul was cast in K. Balachander’s Dilon Ka Rishta, but due to the death of the producer, R.C. Prakash, the project failed to wrap up. He was supposed to do another important film entitled Ayudh, by K. Balachander, but due to the untimely death of the director, the film didn’t materialize. Other films that were shelved were Premabhishek, Dil Diya Chori Chori, Kalyug, Tune Mera Dil Le Liya, Vajra and Jab Jab Dile Mile. Rahul was supposed to do the Bollywood remake of Kevin Costner’s Revenge, but it was also shelved.

He took a hiatus for four long years and returned in the year 2005, through the Bollywood film, Meri Aashiqui.
