Aruna Irani

Aruna Irani is an Indian actress who has acted in over 300 films, mostly doing supporting roles. She was born to a Parsi family on 18th August 1946 in Mumbai. She is married to film director, Kuku Kohli. Aruna Irani was first introduced in the film, Gunga Jumna in 1961. She was just 9 years old at the time when she played the role of Azra. 

After that, she did small roles in several films such as Jahanara in 1964, Farz in 1967 and Upkar in the same year and Aaya Sawan Jhoomke in 1969. Aruna Irani got her first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress twice in the movie, Pet Pyaar Aur Paap in 1984. In 1992, she received her second Fimfare Award for Best Supporting Actress when she played a motherly role in the Hindi film, Beta. She was also the one who played the same role in the Kannada remake of the same film, Beta. She also did Marathi films like Changu Mangu, Aandhla Marto Dola, Ek Gadi Baki Anadi, Lapwa Chapvi and Bol Baby Bol. Later on, Irani also performed in television where she played different character roles in several serials. 

She also directed and produced tele-serials such as Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, Mehndi Tere Naam Ki, Hindi TV series, Rabba Ishq Na Hove and Vaidehi – Ek Aur Agni Pareeksha and may more. She also got the Lifetime Achievement award in the Filmfare awards in Mumbai on February 19, 2012. Aruna did a lot of films and TV shows. Her most recent TV show is the Indian soap, Sanskaar – Dharohar Apnon Ki on colors TV. Aside from being an actress, producer and a director, Aruna is also a good dancer. She already danced the Thoda Resham Lagda Hai from the 1969 film, Jyoti, Dilbar Dilse Pyare, Chadti Jawani Meri Chaal Mastani and more.
