Ava Mukherjee is an Indian actress known for her successful appearance in movies despite her age. She started working in movies at a time in life when people think of either taking a retirement or already have retired and are living life at home. Ava had something other than retirement in her mind and thought of working in films when she was 74 years old she made her debut into the Indian film industry. Her first appearance was in a movie named Snip! in the year 2000.

The role she played in the movie was a rather small and insignificant one but this was the time when Ava actually thought herself to be capable of working in films. She became widely famous for her rather small but noticeable role in the third version of the movie Devdas which was released in the year 2002. This movie was based on the novel by the same name and was authored by Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay in the year 1917. Ava played the role of a grandmother of the protagonist which was a role played by Shah Rukh Khan.

It is a film that is credited to be one of the most expensive films that were ever made in Bollywood. It was a rather pleasing site to see Ava Mukherjee come as a protagonist in many films at her age. She was seen as the grandmother who tells terrifying stories to her grandchildren in the movie , which was released in the year 2006, and also played the role of Usha Dutt in the movie Detective Nani in which she plays the role of a grandmother who tries to solve a mysterious crime that has betided in her building. This movie saw its release in the year 2009 and was a movie that became famous among children.
