Born in Calcutta on 23th May 1979, Divya was born in a royal family and belonged to Cochin. All her relatives are Generals, Diplomats, Councillors, etc. Her great grandfathers were ministers in Cochin itself. She once told in her interview that her father had a transferable job, so she traveled to many states and even countries during her schooling days.

She then was a part of many plays, and the list includes some legendary ones like Sound of Music. She was even a part of “Legend of Ram.” After acting in plays, she realized that her right place was not in front of the camera but behind the camera and she decided to open her production house. In 2001, she inaugurated her production company and named it “Balancing Act Productions.”

Her play “A personal war” was based on the lives of the survivors and victims of Mumbai attacks that happened in 2008. This play helped her gain the recognition as a director and producer. This play made up its place in Edinburgh Fringe Festival of 2008.

It was among the top 3 out of more than 35000 plays worldwide. She also received an award in New York festival for her direction.
