This chubby star of Bollywood had a different style of acting. Nevertheless it was appreciated to an extent. Pooja Bhatt, daughter of famous director , gave up her dream of becoming an astronaut, to take up a career in acting.

Pooja Bhatt debuted in her father’s directorial venture Daddy, when she was just a teen. It was a typical Bhatt film and revolved around a girl trying to alleviate her father from the clutches of alcohol. Later, this duo offered ‘Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahin’ where played the male lead. This film was an adaptation of yesteryear hit and Hollywood film ‘It Happened One Night’. Pooja played the role of an arrogant girl of a millionaire in the film. She runs away from her home in the dream of marrying a not-so-good person. Eventually she gets trapped in love with a poor journalist. The film was a success at the box office. Pooja has worked for over 10 years in films. She was a bold actress during her time. With her personal life gaining the attention of magazines, her acting profession also sustained with the help of her father. She worked in some regional films too. At one point of time Pooja delivered a string of flops. With this, she ventured into production in 1996, and the film was Tamanna.

Pooja became a full-fledged producer and her venture, Dushman, starring Kajol in two roles, was a hit during 1998. The third production venture of Pooja was Zakhm. This was her father’s direction and it was a take on the latter’s personal life. Pooja played with excellence, the role of her real life grandmother. Pooja won National Award for Tamanna and Nargis Dutt Award for Zakhm. Pooja had directed over four films.
