Rachna Banerjee, the only child of her parents, was born on 2 October, 1974, in Kolkata. Firstly, Banerjee got married to Siddhanta Mahapatra, but later they got divorced, and she married Probal Basu, Deputy Manager of Tata AIG. The couple has a son, Pronil Basu.

Rachana Banerjee, born on 2nd of October, 1978, in Kolkata, West Bengal, is an Indian film and television actress. She has been working in the film and television industry since 1994. Rachna Banerjee is an Indian actress, born in Kolkata, West Bengal. She has featured in some Bengali, Odia, Tamil and other regional movies, along with one Bollywood movie. Rachna had been involved in the glamorous career of television long before she actually started working in the movies.

Before appearing on big screens, she took part in quite a number of beauty pageants and even won a few. Her career jump started after she won the Miss Kolkata Beauty contest in 1994. After that, she proceeded to win another 5 beauty competitions, both regional and national, among which, winning Miss Beautiful Smile at Miss India contest made her even more famous. After her promising career at modeling, she featured in a number of big screen projects. She started with acting in Bengali films, and later, was part of a number of other regional films. She worked with co-star Prosenjit Chatterjee in most of her Bengali movies, with Siddhanta Mahapatra in her Odia films, and with Upendra and Chiranjeevi in her Kannada and Telugu films.

Her first Bengali movie was Daan Protidan, released in 1994. Later, in the same year, her other two Bengali movies, ‘Tapasya’ and ‘Amodini’, released.
