Sanjoy Das

Sanjoy Das is one of the famous music artists of West Bengal who has predominantly worked in classical and folk music. He is popularly known as ‘Bappi Da’ in West Bengal. His father was a folk musician as well. He began learning music from his mother when he was young, learned the fundamentals of Hindustani classical music. Das began performing professionally as a musician in 1998. He used to play local gigs before that. Even though his parents were well-off, he grew up as a self-sufficient young man. He performed small concerts after studying music to help pay for his studies and guitar lessons. Indian classical and folk music were his favourite subjects to learn while learning to play  the guitar.

His debut recording was a folk song for Swapna Chakraborty, a famed West Bengal folk singer.
