Sunjay Kapoor

Sunjay Kapur, born in 1972, is a businessman and well known to be associated with the famous Bollywood family of the Kapoors. He started interning at an early age of 14 with companies like BMW (Germany) and TRW Koyo (USA).

At 24, Sunjay became the HR of Sona Steering Group and focused on Human Capital and Labour Reforms. In 1999 he began his new Venture of Sona e-Design and became an integral part of outsourcing in his field of business. In 2003, he took over as the MD of the Sona Sonic Lemforder Company and his journey of reaching new heights continued as he went on to become the Global Chairman of Entrepreneur Org (2007) and in the following year he became the VC and MD of SKSSL.

His professional success reigned in as he became Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of the Sona BLW Precision Forging Limited. Since 2012, Sunjay acts as the Executive Committee Member of Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA). All this was achieved by Sunjay Kapur on his own merit. The basis was his education in University of Buckingham (BBA) and MIT (Class of 2006, fondly known as Birthing of Giants). In 2013 February, he completed his course of Owner President Management from the highly prestigious Harvard Business School.

Sunjay was in the news when he tied the knot with Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor. In 2003 the businessman and famous actor got married and it was said that things did not work well from the early onset of his nuptials. As much as he was doing well in his business, his personal life was taking a new turn since the marriage between the two. There were rumors of the two not having a cordial relationship between them. However, they have two kids together, Samaira and Kiaan.

In 2010, Karisma was not happy, and she made it evident by moving out of the house and shifted back to Mumbai. Karisma was always said to have received support from her family. In 2014, the couple had filed the petition for divorce. The two, however, were advised by the court to sort things out. Sunjay requested to move to Court in New Delhi. Finally, in April 2016, the couple’s thirteen-year marriage fell apart on mutual consent making headlines all over the country. It was said that Sunjay and Karisma had personal issues at home.

Karisma had also filed for domestic violence and dowry harassment case against Sunjay and his mother. This triggered the problems further which made Sunjay say some loose and controversial remarks, about Karisma Kapor. However, Karisma withdrew her harassment case from the court. But the media went bonkers with these remarks and it took the whole divorce controversy one notch higher. In the mutual divorce settlement between Sunjay and Karisma, Karisma won the custody battle for both the kids.

Sunjay is, however, allowed to visit the kids. Karisma was also given one of the houses owned by Sunjay in Mumbai, which was under the name of Sunjay’s father, and Sunjay is expected to pay up for the expenses of the kids. While the divorce settlement was underway, both Sunjay and Karisma were rumored to engage themselves with different people. This divorce of the famous couple was received differently by different people. There were also some disturbing remarks thrown at Sunjay Kapur for divorcing Karisma. Randhir also came out in public and said that he was not a big fan of the two’s marriage from the beginning. However, Bollywood is never short of any controversies, and this marriage too had its share of it.

It was said that Karisma was aware of the affair between Priya Sachdev and Sunjay; Sunjay was accusing Karisma of using their kids as pawns and so on. Surely, the divorce and the controversies attached to it make up for one of the nastiest and ugliest battle in the industry and social circles.
