Sudha Malhotra took birth on November 30,th 1936 in New Delhi, India. By profession, she is a play back singer and an actress. She started her career in the year 1954 and worked for 28 consecutive years and worked till 1982. Along with singing, she has also acted in various movies which were released in the 1950s and 1960s. Some of her renowned films were “Arzoo,” “Girl Friend,” “Ab Dilli Door Nahin” “Kala Pani,” “Didi,” “Prem Rog,” “Dekh Kabira Roya,” ‘”Barsaat Ki Raat,” “Dhool Ka Phool” etc. Her last singing venture in her career was “Yeh Pyar Tha Ya Kuch Aur Tha” for the movie “Prem Rog.”

Her birth was in Delhi, but her upbringing has taken place in various cities, in and out of the country like Bhopal, Firozpur, and Lahore. In the process of growing up, she recognized her interests in singing. At that time, when everyone was craving or independence, the stereotypical society did not support her much as she was a “Girl,” but she decided very firmly in her mind to make a career in singing only. Her first ever teachers were the songs made at that time and got her initial training from them only. But soon she realized that for professional singing, only listening to songs and getting trained by them was not enough. So she decided to do graduation in music for professional training which would help her in the long run and enter the industry with firm steps and hence did it from Agra University.

She started her career in singing as a singing child artist who helped her a lot to make a firm career in singing shortly. While she was a chid singing artist, she was recognized by very popular music composer Ghulam Haider in early 1940’s who helped paving her way in the Industry and gave her the chance to sing in the movie “Aarzoo” which was her debut movie.

When she grew up and decided to make singing as her career and prepared herself accordingly, she gave her voice to many hit songs to various blockbuster movies in which she did acting too. She sang for 155 films and in total, gave her voice to 264 songs. She also worked in Marathi industry and sung many hit songs there too. Her last song that she sung was from the movie “Prem Rog” in the year 1982, and the name of the song was “Yeh Pyar Tha Ya Kuch Aur.” In the whole of her career, she did not get that success, recognition and appreciation that she deserved but became one of the prominent singers of Bollywood.
