Jassi is a Delhi based RJ (Radio Jockey). RJ Jassi doesn’t essentially come from an arts-oriented background. Growing up, she didn’t read a lot or even know what an RJ was supposed to be. But when she got herself enrolled in the University of Delhi to pursue a degree in journalism, a whole new world of opportunities and ideas unfolded in front of her eyes. This is where she started to read and grew passionate about the idea of storytelling. Currently, she works at one of the most famous radio stations Big FM. As a young adult, Jassi hated the sound of her voice.

A lot of people teased her, saying that she sounds manly. Even though these snide remarks would get to her, sometimes, she didn’t let them define her. After college, she interned at a radio station to fuel her passion. So she could be a part of telling stories that went unheard in the hustle-bustle of daily life. From there, began the journey of RJ Jassi’s transformation into a brand new person. She did street theatre for three years. Later on, she went to do an internship at a radio station, where someone appreciated her voice.

Jassi believes that everybody has a unique story. And to tell those stories there are two types of storytellers. One who can tell a relatable story, and others who can tell other’s stories. Jassi considered herself to be in the second category. For her radio is a story in itself, and she is the mouthpiece through which she tells the stories of people she meets. And to tell these stories, one must get into the shoes of the person.

RJ Jassi is one of those people who do not plan every detail of their future well in the present but let things fall into place as they go ahead. After graduation, when she saw others applying for masters she didn’t have a solid plan. But she let things happen at their own pace. She believes that society puts pressure on people to figure out their entire life way ahead of time, but sometimes it’s okay not to know where you are going ’cause your purpose in life will eventually find you. Besides her job, she is an avid reader and traveler. She enjoys Kishor Kumar’s songs and loves to meet new people.
