Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra she completed her graduation from Mumbai and her MBA from the prestigious IIM Lucknow. She entered the arena of Bollywood with her IIM tag. As a playback singer, her first song was in the Telugu film Ghulabi released in 1995. Later on, she got her first Hindi song Tere Dil Ne from the movie Loafer in1996.
