Manpreet Akhtar was a Punjabi folk singer who was born in 1965 in Kotkapura, Faridkot district, Punjab. Her father name is Keere Khan Saugeen and her brother Dilshad Akhtar, who died in 1995, who was also a Punjabi Folk singer. Her other sibling Sandeep Akhtar was also a singer. She has started her basic musical learnings from Ustad Krishankant Sharma of Barjindra Government College, Faridkot. She entered into the playback and folk singing in her mid 30’s. She has worked in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and Government music college as a music teacher. Her some of the hit songs are Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Ayi, Beriye Ni and many more folk songs. She was suffering from Cardio Vascular illness and died on 18th January 2016.
