Anish John is an Indian movie sound designer and mixer. He is a National Award winner for Best Sound Design or Best Audiography in the film ‘Labour of Love.’ John also won a Filmfare Award at their 63rd Annual edition, where he gained a nomination for the category of Best Sound Design. Anish also gained a Jagran Film Award for Best Sound Design, in the 8th Jagran Film Festival in 2017. It was his second victory in this same category, as he also bagged an award at the 6th Jagran Film Festival, in the year 2015. John also gained high critical acclaim for his work as the Sound Designer in the first Indian Netflix original series, Sacred Games.

‘Newton,’ the 2017 Bollywood movie selected for the category of Best Foreign Language Film (Indian entry) for the 90th Annual Academy Awards, had Anish John’s presence as their Production Sound Mixer. The movie had its world-wide premiere in the 67th edition of Berlin Film Festival. It premiered in North America at the TFF or Tribeca Film Festival. Anish was born and bred in the historic city of Kolkata, India. He completed his schooling from the Don Bosco School in Park Circus, Kolkata. He attended the St. Xavier’s College, which was also in Kolkata. John also did a three years course from the FTII, Pune or the Film and Television Institute of India, in formal film education.

After the completion of his graduation, he shifted to the Bollywood city of Mumbai. Earlier, Anish worked as an editor and a sound recorder for numerous short movies, documentaries, and narrative features. He later shifted to the field of sound designing and mixing.
