Vandana Ramakrishna

Vandana Ramakrishna is a freelance Sound Recordist and Sound Designer based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Belonging to a family exposed to art, culture, and films, it was natural for her to develop a keen interest in this industry. After graduating from Jyoti Nivas College, Bangalore, Karnataka, she began her journey in the field of music. She studied Master of Arts in ‘Sound Recording and Design for Films & TV’ from Annapurna College of Film and Media, Hyderabad, Telangana. This experience exposed her to the art of Sound design and helped her strive towards producing soundtracks for films. 

Vandana is highly skilled in Audio post-production, Sound Designing, Sound Editing, Sound Recording, and Dialogue Editing. Moreover, she is extremely passionate about translating scripts into films, adding aesthetics and factual representation through appropriate sound design. Apart from this, Vandana loves to record sound for documentary films and travel shows, enabling her to record sound from different cultures and terrains. Vandana started her career as a Sound Mixer intern at Annapurna Studios Private Limited, Hyderabad, in 2020. After that, she started working as a freelance Sound Editor in Mumbai. She has worked on various national and international projects, including Documentaries, Feature Films, Short Films, Advertisements, and Podcasts. Her breakthrough Bollywood movies are Mission Majnu (2023) and Darlings (2022) in which she got the opportunity to work as an Assistant Sound Recordist.

For her exceptional performance as supervising sound and dialogue editor in a short film called ‘Kadalin Kural,’ Vandana was nominated for the 57th Annual CAS ‘Student Recognition Award’ in 2020 by Cinema Audio Society, USA. In 2021, she was also nominated for the prestigious 68th  Annual Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) ‘Golden Reels Awards’ for the same movie. Through her work and immense love for sound and music, Vandana aspires to raise awareness about the change that good sound design can bring to a film.
