Mohamed Ali

Mohamed Ali is a professional football player who plays for Goa football team in the India Super League. He was born on 21st August 1992 in Caranzalem in Goa and plays as a Defender. In his youth career, he was part of Goa United, Dempo and Sporting Goa.

In his senior career, he joined Santa Crux Club of Cavelossim, Laxmi Prasad, Dempo, NEROCA and finally Goa. He also received promotions two times in two consecutive seasons of the ISL by both his team Dempo and NEROCA. Mohamed Ali’s early years were full of poverty, and he was raised in Goa by his single mother.

As a kid, he played football whenever he got the opportunity to and had a strong inclination towards the sport. His brother always wanted him to prioritize his studies over football. Soon he started participating in organized football games in under 18 sides for Goa United. He was also part of Taca Goa under 20 league with Dempo. Soon Mohamed Ali joined Sporting team and then moved to Sporting Goa in search of an established carer in football. After that Ali shifted to the Goa Professional League. He was with them for the next season and then went back to Dempo.

He played from Dempo’s side in the League second division campaign in 2015-16. In the year 2016, Ali aided his team in earning promotion into the I-League after being demoted last season. By the end of the season, Mohamed got selected for the Goa football team for Santosh Trophy. The team played outstandingly well in the group stages but tumbled out during semi-finals.

In March 2017, Mohamed Ali joined NEROCA. Once again he helped another team, NEROCA and they gained back their promotion in I-League. In the Players Draft in 2016-17, he was chosen by Goa for the 2017-18 Indian Super League Season.

It was a long lasting dream for him to be part of his home team, which came true when he got picked up by the team. The first match Ali played for Goa was against Chennaiyin which Goa won by 3-2. Further, he helped his team gain victory over Bengaluru after which he received an award for Emerging Player of Match. In January 2018, he signed up with Goa which is valid till 2020.
