Vijay Crishna

Vijay Crishna is an actor, philanthropist, explorer and managing director at Godrej. He is one of the most multitalented actors, who works in Bollywood and is one of the biggest names in the Indian theatres.

Vijay completed his schooling from Shimla. He had to often walk for four to five kilometers to his school, which really molded his brain to explore things. He also had an adventurous family to look up to, his grandfather was KS Thimayya, the former chief of Army. Vijay has been an active member of the famous Himalayan club for over three decades now. In 2018, Vijay along with other members climbed the 20000 ft. High Stok Kangri in Ladakh. In 2016, Vijay also explored the very dangerous Antarctica. He has also travelled to the deep forests of South America.

His acting career started way back in the 1960s. After finishing his school education, Vijay got selected in the prestigious St. Stephens College in New Delhi, where he completed his Bachelors in Economics. It was during those days when Vijay developed the taste of theatre acting. During his stint in DU, Vijay was simultaneously taking acting classes and performing well in theatres. In 1971, Vijay left his job and moved to Mumbai, where he worked under Sylvester Da Cunha. He describes in an interview, this period as one of the most fun he ever had. He would go on to star in many plays and skits. His first play ever was The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, which was based on fascism in Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler. Vijay played a very small role of the chauffer in the film. Soon after finishing the movie, Vijay got a job at Godrej, where he met his future wife, Smita Crishna-Godrej. Vijay now works as the MD at Godrej. He has also starred in movies like Devdas and Guzaarish.
