Ramesh Bhatkar was an Indian film, stage and TV actor, who was born on August 4th, 1949. Out of the various roles that Ramesh played, he is known for his roles in the television series Commander and Hello Inspector. He appeared for more than 30 years as an actor in the Marathi commercial movie industries of the Marathi and Hindi languages. He died on February 4th, 2019 at the age of 69 in Mumbai due to cancer. Apart from his artistic background, in his early college days, Ramesh was a champion swimmer who played for his college's aquatic team.

He was an enthusiastic Kho-Kho player with the reputed Vijay Club in Dadar. Ramesh joined Telco, Pune, Pune now Tata Motors, and used to participate in Marathi theatre in the evening as an actor while working as Telco employee. He married Mrudula who worked as a lawyer in the civil court and later became a judge. Ramesh was the youngest of Snehal's three children. His older siblings were Snehalata Bhatkar and Avinash Bhatkar. Ramesh's mainstream film debut was the film Chandoba Chandoba Bhaglas ka followed by AshtaVinayak, Maaherchi Manasa, Duniya Kari Salam, Aapli Maanasa, and Maherchi Sadi. Ramesh played a groom in the movie Lek Chalali Sasarla.

In his nearly 90 films, most are in Marathi, with a few movie in the Hindi language. He last seen in a role loosely based on former Chief Miniter of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavhan in the movie The Accidental Prime Minister.
