Godh Bharaai, her serial, centers on the story of a woman who faces the social stigma of being childless. It portrays the varied roles a woman has to play in life – that of daughter, wife, daughter in law and mother. Though most of these come naturally to her, the role of a mother may or may not fall within her experience. It is in this condition of being childless, that the woman is scorned at, in society, for no fault of hers. Godh Bharaai deals with this topic with high sensitivity and Mangala with her experience in acting contributes to the realness of the serial with her role of Bhagyashree.

In Kaali- Ek Punar Avtar, Mangala plays the role of Vaani, who is a primary school teacher, sensitive to the issues relating to children and wanting to bring positive changes in their lives. Being a single mother after the death of her husband, Vaani takes good care of her children. Likewise, she instills the values of morality, truthfulness, and valor in the children whom she teaches. All the children respect her, and she is their favorite teacher.

Other than serials, Mangala has been a very successful film artist. She played the role of Shobha in the 2005 release Sarkar followed by Welcome To Sajjanpur in 2008. Some of the better-known serials are Kaali-Ek Punar Avatar on Star Plus where she played the role of Vani, the mother who fights till the end to avenge the murder of her son. This serial was inspired by the real-life case of Nitish Katara, assassinated by the children of a wealthy politician for a love affair with his daughter, which raised a lot of ripples in Indian Society. She played the role of Bhagyashree in another serial 'God Bharai' on Sony TV, which was also a very popular serial. Sphere Origin produced the serial.
