Sonali Thakker is an upcoming Indian standup comedian and writer. Her quirky wit and charm have endeared her to her vast audience. Gujarati by culture, she lives and works in the heart of Indian entertainment, Mumbai.Sonali started her young life pursuing a career as a Chartered Accountant, but she soon gave that up when she discovered she had the not-so-ordinary talent to get up on stage and make people laugh.
Her jokes often revolve around the everyday trifles of a young woman struggling to get by in the metropolitan crowd. Her comic pieces also feature commentaries on Indian culture and gender norms. Sonali has had about a decade’s worth of experience in the field of stand up. She has written scripts for YouTube sketches and live stage events for the popular internet comic group, East India Comedy.
She has played screen roles in the web series ‘Son of Abhish (2018)’ and ‘Pushpavalli (2020).’Sonali has also performed several live sets at the Canvas Laughter Club in Mumbai and Delhi, and for college and corporate events. She has performed shows in various parts of the country as well as internationally in the Melbourne Comedy Festival 2019.
