Mahendra Ajnabi was born on 24th June 1959 in a middle-class family in Uttar Pradesh. Right from his young age, he has been interested in playing with the words. He developed his knowledge in poetry writing slowly and now he is one among the adorable contemporary poets in India. After completing his post graduation in Botany, Mahendra Ajnabi finished his Bachelor of Education. Besides writing artistic poetries, Mahendra Ajnabi pens the humorous poems too.

That is the reason why the poetry lovers have adored him for the past three decades. His poems have a thin line between sarcasm and humour. Although he writes humorous poems, some message will be hidden behind his words. His uniqueness in handling the Hindi words has brought him a great honour in his career. A lot of his poetries were published in the popular dailies and weekly magazines. Besides writing poems, Mahendra Ajnabi has written general articles too. Saptahik Hindustan, Parag, Madhuri, Dainik Hindustan, Navbharat, Sandhya Times, Navbharat Times, Amar Ujala, Rajasthan Patrika, Bijnor Times and Uttar Ujala published his artistic poetries.

His poetical work Hansa Hansa Ke Marunga gained him a lot of appreciation. Besides writing, he has also recited the poems in popular audio and video media. Doordarshan, All India Radio, Sony TV, NEPC, Zee TV, Jain TV, Zee India, SAB TV, Tez, Aaj Tak, NDTV, Live India, Dabang and Jansandesh broadcasted his recitation. His popularity is widespread not only in India but in countries like the US, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal, UAE and Oman, where he recited his poetries. Mahendra Ajnabi is the proud recipient of various awards in National level. He has received an award for his poems in 1996 from Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma, the President of India.

He received Om Prakash Aditya Samman in 2001. In the same year, he was honoured by Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Prime Minister of India.
