Munirathna

Munirathna or also known as Munirathna Naidu is a prominent film producer of Kannada films and the former President of the Kannada Film Producers Association (KFPA). He is also sitting as the MLA of the Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency. Munirathna has produced few Kannada films including Aunty Preethse (2001), Kambalahalli (2002), Raktha Kanneeru (2003), and Anatharu (2007). Munirathna also bagged the Best Film Award at the 2nd South Indian International Movie Awards for his contribution to the film.

He has been a Corporator of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). He has been serving the people from Bangalore since the early days of his career as a BBMP Class-I’A’ Contractor. His enthusiasm to serve the Bangalore people has made him decide to contest in the 2010 BBMP elections. Aside from films, he was elected as the President of KFPA, after beating Ba Ma Harish in a big margin of 78 votes. In 2013, he has served as the Councilor of the Greater Bangalore City Corporation and has represented the Congress. At present, he is serving as the MLA of the Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency.

Munirathna has been in and out of controversies including the protest that was made against him by the city unit BJP after he allegedly offended Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, the pontiff of Adhi Chunchanagiri Math. It was reported that Munirathna invited him to take over the administration because he believes that the politicians failed to govern the state well enough. Munirathna has apologized for his statement. Also in 2013, when he is filing his nomination in the Rajajeshwari constituency, he threatened an electoral officer that he won’t let the officer stay in peace if his nomination gets rejected.
