M D Pallavi Arun is a famous singer from Karnataka. She had a beginning almost like a usual child. Learning Bharatanatyam, participating in cultural programs was her routine and regular activity that is any child's dream. She never aspired to become a singer. She initially had the training in Hindustani Classical music from Pandit Ram Rao Naik of Kirana Gharana. But yet she considers her mother as an initial guru who taught her to practice music when she was singing. That is how her vocal cords became perfect before she could start beginning the ragas to help her to form a sound base of Hindustani Classical music from Pandit Rajbhau Sontakke, the disciple of the great Pandit Omkarnath Thakur of Gwalior Gharana. Later on, veterans like Mysore Ananthaswamy and his son Raju Ananthaswamy helped her to start on her journey to learn ‘Sugama Sangeetha’ (light music). Thus, she established herself as a ‘Sugama Sangeetha’ singer.

Also, she holds a degree in Hindustani vocal through Benares University. Although she is a playback singer in many Kannada films over a decade she performs musical concerts in ‘Surgama Sangeetha’ for viewers in abroad and even in India. She also runs a music school ‘Bimba’ from her home for kids. As a singer, she had the opportunity to sing for music directors like Hamsalekha, Manohar, Mysore Ananthaswamy and C. Ashwath. Her husband is Arun Kumar, an ace drummer who had been learning drums since the age of three and now teaching the same to kids and youngsters, She had appeared on television both as a host and even as an actress. As an actress, she appeared in TV shows such as Mayamruga, Garva, and Mukta Mukta. As a host, she anchored two sessions of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for Zee Kannada as also ‘Gunagaana - A Tribute to Legends’. She won the best playback singer award of Karnataka State for her song ‘Nodayaa’ which she had recorded for the film “Duniya”.  She is also the recipient of Kale Mattu Sadhana best Playback Singer Award 2009 for her song in the movie Eddelu Manjunatha. Pallavi holds a degree in Hindustani music from the University of Banaras. She hails from Bangalore. She is a playback singer and a TV Anchor. Pallavi has acted in many plays and also worked on productions for her grandfather, A. S. Murthy. She also worked for single episodes of two television serials, “Mayamurga and Garva.” She has won the Aryabhatta “BEST ACTRESS” award. She was a member and worked in script writing in the film Stumble and in the Indian English language, she won a National Award for the year 2003 in the Best English Film Category. Pallavi also worked alongside ‘Umashree’ in the National Award winning Kannada movie “Gulabi Talkies”.

She has been a dubbing artist too, and some of her dubbed movies are ‘Sumana Kittur’s directorial ‘Edegarike’, ‘K. M.
