Kai

Kai was born on 14th January 1994 in South Korea’s Suncheon, South Jeolla Province, as Kim Jong In. Kai has two elder sisters. He is a popular singer, actor, dancer cum model. He is one of the members of the leading boy band Exo and its subunits from South Korea. After inspired by The Nutcracker, he started learning ballet. When he was just 8, he started learning Jazz dance. Although his parents wanted him to learn Taekwondo and piano, they didn’t stop him from leaning his interest. Kai is the first member of Exo. He was officially announced as a member in 2012. In 2012, he received his graduation from the School of Performing Arts Seoul. SBS Gayo Daejeon is the first televised program of Kai.

In 2012, Kai took part in the Younique Unit, a promotional group in association with Henry, Eunhyuk, Taemin, Luhan and Hyoyeon. Maxstep is their first single together and it was produced by Hyundai in association with SM Entertainment. Along with Lay, Yunho, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Taemin and Minho, Kai joined SM The Performance, the dance group and performed the single, Spectrum. Kai also featured in Taemin’s debut album, Pretty Boy.

He made his acting debut in 2016 with the web drama Choco Bank. The drama created a huge record in terms of viewership. Later in the same year, he appeared in a couple of episodes in the web drama 7 First Kisses. In 2017, he did the lead role in Andante, a KBS drama. In the same year, he appeared in a Japanese drama, Spring Has Come. It is an adaptation of a novel of the same name. Wowow produced the drama and Kai got the identity as the first non-Japanese actor, who played in the drama produced by Wowow.

The Big Issue magazine honored Kai by publishing his image as the cover model. Within 2 days, 20k copies of the magazine were sold and in total 80k copies were sold out. This is said to be the highest sales for the magazine, so far. Kai had also played in the drama, The Miracle We Met. In 2019, he became a member of SuperM, a group created by SM Entertainment and Capitol Records. He made his first solo album in 2020. His first Extended Play, Kai and the single Mmmh, were released on 30^th November 2020. Kai was appointed as Gucci brand’s ambassador in 2020.
