 Born in 1957, in the city of Thrissur in Kerala, Shankar’s family relocated to Chennai when he was 4, and he then proceeded to complete his schooling from St. Beed’s High School, and his college from Gadwarl University in Rishikesh. He then pursued a 2 year acting course from the South India Film Chambers of Acting.
 
Close on the heels of his immense success in his Tamil debut, Oru Thalai Raagam, Shankar was then signed by the Navodaya banner to star in their romantic movie, Manjil Virinja Pookkal. The success of this movie made him almost instantaneously, the leading young star in the Malayalam movie scene. While he never experimented with his genre, most of his less significant movies were still hits only due to his presence on screen. He then proceeded to portray a negative role in Guha, and then other movies included Kadathu, Oothikachiya Ponnu, and the megahit Ente Mohangal Poovaninju. He also acted in Tamil movies at the same time, producing hits including Sujatha, Mouna Yuddham, Koyil Puraa  Raagam Thedum Pallavi. In the 1980’s, he had further success in his movies including Himaam, Hello Madras Girl and Mortuary.He also had movies including Arante Mulla Kochu Mulla, Poochakkoru Mookkuthi and Itha Innu Muthal.

The above dignified personality is Shankar, his original name was Shankar panicker.He is an Indian film actor and director. He is well known as Shankar in Malayalam films and oruthalairagam Shankar in Tamil films. Shankar was born in 1960 to Thrissur Kacheriyil Thekkeveettil NP Panicker and Sulochana Panicker.

Firstly he was married to Rooparekha but due to some sort of misunderstanding they got divorced after having a son. At that time they lived in Cochin with his mother. Then he was married to Chitra lakshmi in 2013, who was a dance teacher. In 1980’s Shankar went for the auditions of oruthalairagam. He was one among hundreds of newcomers giving audition for Oru Thalai Ragam, but he was selected as the lead actor. Finally the movie was a super hit and completed 365 days in theatres and Shankar became very popular with this achievement. .

Shankar became famous and hot property in both Tamil and Telugu film industry and almost all his films were doing good business. Most of his ordinary films were hits just because of his presence. Shankar became a comeback hero and lead hero in Sooryavanam,Bhadra,Sundarippravu and The Fire. Shankar also acted in some of the films which were not so popular like Stalinsivdas with Mammooty.

At that moment Shankar also stepped into serial industry and acted in a serial called Ithumanju, SwaraRaagam and Parasparam. At last he stopped doing serials and started direction and directed a film on HIV/AIDS which was censored in 2007. In 2006, Shankar directed a film on child labour, named Katti. He won best director award for the movie. In 2015, Shankar released a movie Sand City, a Tamil-Malayalam film. Shankar is going on his direction by his intellectual thinking skills and let us wish him to succeed in his life as long he lives………
