Jeena Riju

Jeena Riju is an actress of Indian descent, who has predominantly worked in the Malayalam Film Industry. She was born in Pathanamthitta, a small district in Kerala, on September 19, 1988. Her mother and father's names are Omana David and David Kulathumkal respectively. Jeena has done her schooling from PSVPM Higher Secondary School, Konni and her graduation from a college in Bangalore city. Both Omana and David encouraged Jeena to pursue her passion. Jeena started as a model but later switched to acting as offers began to pour in.

She debuted on the big screen in 2013 with Red Wine, starring Mohanlal as the male lead. Salam Bappu, a debutante, helmed it while Gireesh Lal and Gowri Meenakshi Movies produced it. Salam decided to cast her after seeing some of her photographs. Though Jeena did a supporting act in it, the movie was a huge hit, and hence she was able to reach a wide range of audience. In the same year, Prasanth Murali directorial Paisa Paisa released starring her.

It revolved around the effect money has on the human's mind. However, it didn't manage to set the cash registers on fire for and so in spite of acting well, she couldn't manage to carve her place in their heart with this outing. But Paisa Paisa's abysmal performance didn't deter directors and producers to approach her for their movies, and since then she has appeared in Memories, Balyakalaskhi, an adaptation of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's book of the same name, How Old Are You? and others. Of all her films, ‘How Old are you?’ which ran in the theatre for a hundred and fifty days, catapulted her to the stardom.

In a time when actresses hesitate to age on screen, Jeena has played the character of a mother to Mamooty. In fact, she doesn't even bother about the screen time or the length of her character. However, she looks for pivotal and substantial roles which have an impact on the story. Besides films, Jeena is keen on taking up fascinating parts on TV as is feels that it would allow her to experiment with the acting.

In fact, she is more passionate about the small screen than the large one. The name of Jeena's first serial was Punarjani. Jeena is married to Riju Varghese. Riju is a director himself and is enormously supportive of his wife's career choices and also encourages her to pursue modeling as well.
