Shaji Mathew is a Malayalam independent art movie producer in Kerala and has won international and national accolades with just two or three films he had in his kitty. Despite his films get no help from big fishes (producers) of Mollywood film society, but Shaji’s Mathew earns his prestige as an independent art film producer through crowd funding procedures.

His latest film ' S Durga' (Sexy Durga) has been dragged into the unnecessary controversy by the Central Board of Film Certification, that asked the producers to re-submit the movie once again. The film could not be screened for the International film festival in Goa because the CBFC sought clarification over U/A certificate too.

The maker of the film moved to Kerala High Court challenging the CBFC’s recent order and felt that the order of the Kerala High Court was really a victory but even then had requested the IFFI authority for the screening of the film in Goa.

The whole team of the movie felt bad as no big names of the film industry did come forward to support the movie’ ban at Goa Film Festival. It may be said that the Censor Board on November 28 had ordered a re-examination of the controversial film 'S Durga,' derailing its court-ordered screening at the IFFI.

The film is likely to release now in theatres in January. 'S Durga' (which was earlier titled Sexy Durga) features some of the acclaimed theatre and TV artistes like Kannan Nayar and even Rajshri Deshpande. The film is being directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan and jointly produced by Aruna Mathew and Shaji Mathew.

The film is making rave reviews wherever it had toured so far. In the year 2016, Shaji Mathew produced a film " Dooram" which had a screenplay by Abhilash N. Chandran, Danil David. The film had a cast of young talented artists such as Maqbool Salmaan, Shine Tom Chacko, and Bhagath Manuel. In the year 2015, Shaji Mathew and Aruna Mathew came together to produce a film named "Ozhivu Divasathe Kali" which hit the screens after the movie had toured several film festivals abroad.
