Gayatri does some private albums for ‘Art of Living Foundation’ which is run by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Bengaluru. In this connection, she also has released an album for the foundation in September 2006. This album was released by musical company HMV worldwide. The singer has undergone training in Carnatic music and Hindustani music from classic vocalists like Pandit Vinayak Malharrao Torvi and a versatile vocalist, Dr. Alka Deo Marulkar. She showed a lot of promise as a singer but could not quite take her career to the next level. Like some of her peers, she was unable to get the leading music directors to help in her career. However, she made her break with the song ‘Deena Dayalo Rama" for the film "Arayannagalude Veedu". The film had music by composer Raveendran. Gayatri Asokan started her career playing the song "Deena Dayalo Rama" in the film Arayannagalude Veedu under music director Raveendran. Stoneham Sumitra's "Enthe Nee Kanna" won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Singer in 2003.
