Vinod Varma

Vinod Varma is a singer who works predominantly in the Indian Malayalam industry. He is a native of Kochi and is a part of the music industry since the last 15 years. Vinod is a part of many bands but is so attached to his tunes and music that he finds the process of selling his music tremendously heartbreaking.

He composes and sings for his own songs and his well-known for his youtube video ‘Alive’ which garnered a large amount of applause and popularity on youtube as well as facebook and crossed a thousand hits on the very day when it launched. He released his solo album Atma back in the 90’s, but today with increasing audiences for social platforms he believes these social websites are the best way to reach out to a large audience and those who enjoy his music.

He contributed his voice for fusion albums, some movies and has also been part of some famous jingles. His struggle in the industry began with coming to Mumbai with a friend, NirmalAntony to look for someone interested in releasing the album Atma. At those times a video was a necessary prerequisite for any audio house to show interest in an album.

Due to lack of budget, he did not have a video for his album but finally found Riyan Studio who agreed to release the album, but it was released only in Kerala. His professional career started as a guitarist in Wrenz, a then-popular rock band.

One of the songs of his album Atma made it to the top 10 songs countdown by Rock Street Journal. Vinod also worked in a fusion music album Naadarupini with M.G. Sreekumar. He sang in the movie Tournament in Malayalam for Deepak Dev.

The jingles he has been part of include Geepas, Popy Nano, and Kent Homes. As for his super hit Alive, it began as a basic home-recorded audio, uploaded on the internet. After four people belonging to the software domain heard the song, they expressed their desire to make a music video for the song. After the video got completed the song’s audio was recorded in a proper studio in Chennai and released.

Vinod is the artist behind the songs Sammaanam from Entry in 2013, Machane Machu and Neeyo from Honeybee in 2013, Mazhavil from 7th Day in 2014 and Nirame Nirmae from Hi I’m Tony in 2014.
